Road Trip: The Beginning
Over the past few years, I've done quite a bit
of traveling on my bikes. I think that maybe now commuting will count
for about half of my total miles, though, running about 350 miles a week.
 |
My
first big trip was to Rolling Thunder in Washington, DC in 1994. I
doubted after the first day that I'd be able to complete the trip
because of injuries I had sustained to my leg in a motorcycle accident
the previous November. But the guys wouldn't let me give up and through
their ingenuity in fashioning a heel shifter out a vise grips and
their encouragement and belief that I could do it, I made it. |

My next big
trip was a spur of the moment trip to Sturgis, South Dakota. I had
a fantastic time and have returned several times since then. I had
to miss going in 1997 and it depressed me. And I had to miss going
in 1998... But I made it in 1999! I love going places where there
are lots of bikes and lots of things happening, and I found it in
Sturgis. I also found some beautiful scenery. |
