We'd planned on staying until Sunday, but when I looked over the schedule
that morning, I saw that we'd done most of what we wanted to fit in! We
didn't want to do the parade that evening and had no interest in the street
party, so we decided to check out early and head downtown for a while
before heading home. The room was very cheap--it ended up being less than
$100 for two nights. When we got downtown, we parked at the "good" parking lot again and
headed up to the Expo area for one final "look around" before we left.
There was a bike show going on, so we wandered through the bikes. There
were several excellent Panheads, one Road King and sidecar painted like
cheese,
a neat rat bike, and more gorgeous bikes than I can remember. By noon
we headed out for home. We stopped for gas and lunch near Jefferson where they have the cream
puffs that are as big as your head. From there, on towards Madison where
the skies got darker and darker. As we rounded the loop to go around Madison,
it started to rain a bit. I pulled off the road at our exit and asked
CrowDog if he thought we should put on raingear. He said "yes." An excellent
decision. I put on my rain jacket and he got suited up at the gas station
and off we went into a very cold downpour that lasted all the way home.
I was cold, wet, and tired by the time we got into our garage and we spent
the remainder of the afternoon and evening trying to warm up. A great time was had by all and I, for one, plan on attending next yearŐs
rally!
We sat around relaxing for a while and eventually headed off to bed.
Once again, I slept very well.
